Members of the Pakistan Society are invited to join the Charity Support Trust of Lahore in a Pakistan Day Polo match at the Ham Polo Club in Richmond just outside London on the 13th of August this year.
The Charity Support Trust is based in Lahore, Pakistan. The trustee is Mr. Emran Akhtar.
Under the umbrella of the Charity Support Trust are projects that not only seek to alleviate the distress of poverty but also to promote an eco-consciousness – a love of the land – a giving back.
There is the effort to rebirth the local arts and crafts, to extract the talent among the poor unfortunately placed in society. In doing this we hope to raise the creative consciousness in the under privileged, enabling them to become happier members of their society. There will be a stall displaying all the wonderful handwork done by the disadvantaged artisans of Multan at the Ham Polo Club. The younger members of the Charity Support Trust have thought of this original idea of a polo match and are very keen to participate in this unique happening.
By inviting all our people to join this event we hope to raise even more awareness of the plight of our flood victims in Pakistan The net proceeds will also support some major items on our agenda that desperately need immediate address.
- There is no water at all in District Vehari – one of the poorest areas in Southern Punjab. We need your immediate help in putting down tube wells and water pumps to make available clean, hygienic, safe water for drinking.
- To continue reconstructing and rebuilding of schools for boys and girls in the disadvantaged areas. To ensure that little girls are as valued as little boys.
- To strengthen our completely free, state of the art physiotherapy clinic in the Bhagbanpura township of Lahore – as numerous burn victims are referred there for physiotherapy and rehabilitation. We need to expand so no patient is turned away.
- To continue with our ongoing housing construction for the flood victims. We have already begun in Sheru Basti in Punjab and Kot Adhu in Sindh. We need to continue to expand into Dera Ghazi Khan and we will continue on further to every part of the country till we can see every poor person housed, clothed, fed and educated.
- To promote the uplift and cause of the women in the society. We are making a very real effort to bring them into the mainstream of society beginning at grass root levels.
